Clinical Supervision
Good Fences Counseling offers clinical supervision for emerging counselors seeking steady professional growth, strong foundational skills, and a grounded sense of clinical identity. Supervision is designed to support supervisees in developing confidence, clarity, and ethical judgment as they navigate the complexities of mental health practice. Our approach is warm, steady, and structured, providing a professional environment where supervisees can explore challenges openly while receiving guidance that is both supportive and accountable.
A Flexible, Eclectic Approach to Supervision
Our supervision style is intentionally eclectic, rooted in the belief that clinicians thrive when they are encouraged to integrate their strengths, deepen self-awareness, and develop a practice that aligns with their values. Rather than steering supervisees toward any single therapeutic modality, we focus on helping them identify and establish strong professional foundations, cultivate sound clinical reasoning, and build the confidence necessary to work effectively with diverse clients. This includes attention to boundaries, development of strong ethical decision-making, case conceptualization, and the supervisee’s emerging therapeutic presence.
Supervision is offered in a non-shaming, kindness-focused environment where questions, uncertainties, and vulnerabilities are treated as natural and important parts of professional development. Supervisees are encouraged to reflect on their own identities, emotional responses, and internal processes in the therapy room, all within a supportive framework that emphasizes professional growth over performance.
Support for Emerging Clinicians
We work with graduate-level interns, post-graduate clinicians seeking licensure, and provisionally licensed counselors who are developing their clinical voice. Supervision includes discussion of treatment planning, client dynamics, self-of-therapist work, crisis response, and strategies for maintaining ethical and effective boundaries. We also help clinicians understand how to approach client challenges with steadiness and curiosity rather than attempting to “fix” or rescue clients, while reinforcing the importance of partnership and values-driven work.
Supervisees receive structured feedback, opportunities for reflection, and guidance tailored to their developmental stage. Our aim is to help clinicians build confidence not only in what they know, but also in their ability to navigate uncertainty and make sound decisions grounded in their professional and personal ethics.
A Foundation for Long-Term Success
The goal of supervision at Good Fences Counseling is to help emerging clinicians become grounded, capable, and authentically themselves in the therapy room. We provide a supportive space where supervisees can develop the skills, mindset, and confidence needed for long-term success in the field. With a focus on steady growth, flexible thinking, and a “do what works” philosophy, we help clinicians cultivate a practice that is ethical, effective, and aligned with their values.
