Clinical Supervision

Good Fences Counseling offers clinical supervision for emerging counselors building their skills, their judgment, and their sense of who they are as clinicians. Our approach is warm, structured, and honest: a place to bring your hardest cases and your open questions, with guidance that supports you and holds you accountable.

An Approach Built Around You

Supervision here is integrative and built around you, not a push toward any single modality. Clinicians grow best when they're helped to build on their own strengths, deepen their self-awareness, and develop a practice that fits who they are. We focus on the foundations: sound clinical reasoning, solid case conceptualization, strong ethical decision-making, and the boundaries and presence that hold a session together. Good supervision should make you more yourself in the room, not a copy of your supervisor.

This happens in a non-shaming environment where questions, uncertainty, and the parts you're unsure of are treated as a normal, necessary part of growing into the work. You're encouraged to reflect on your own reactions and what you bring into the room, with the emphasis on growth rather than performance.

Support for Emerging Clinicians

We work with graduate interns, post-graduate clinicians seeking licensure, and provisionally licensed counselors finding their clinical voice. Sessions cover treatment planning, client dynamics, self-of-therapist work, crisis response, and how to hold ethical, effective boundaries with clients. We help you meet client struggles with steadiness and curiosity instead of the urge to fix or rescue, and to work in genuine partnership with the people you see. You'll get structured feedback, room to reflect, and guidance matched to where you are developmentally, with the aim of confidence not just in what you know, but in your ability to handle uncertainty and make sound calls grounded in your own ethics.

The goal is simple: to help you become capable, ethical, and genuinely yourself in the therapy room, with the skills and judgment to sustain a long career, and a practice that's effective, ethical, and truly your own.
